The Rhinestone Art

We all knew that kids cannot go to school yet and most of them are already bored in our homes.

Here is a suggestion that your kids, and parents as well, will enjoy doing. Rhinestone Art.
DIY, Rhinestone Art, home, home and living,

We got this from one of our blogger friends, Marie of Mommy Unwired. She sends this few years ago and ngayon lang naasikaso.

If you are a cross-stitch enthusiast, this may look familiar with you because Rhinestone art has the same concept with cross-stitch but easier and faster to have the finished product.
DIY, Rhinestone Art, home, home and living,

Instead of threads, multi-colored rhinestones are used. Every hue of rhinestone has a corresponding code.
DIY, Rhinestone Art, home, home and living,

A glued drill pen that is used to pick the rhinestone and placed it on the corresponding square in the canvass.

The pattern is already printed in the canvass called the rhinestone glue area. Each square has a legend where the corresponding rhinestone color is placed.

These are our plates and bowls I organize using a stainless dish organizer. By the way, that board rack was installed by Daddy A too. Such a handy man right?

I bought these plastic basket to hold the cooking utensils.

Even if our kitchen is not a modern one and also far from my dream kitchen, I make sure it is clean and organize.

We bought this rack years ago to hold our kitchen appliances like the oven and airfryer.

In the middle layer, here's where I put our canned goods, condiments, seasonings and other kitchen stuff. I always dream of a kitchen pantry and I will make I will have that in our dream kitchen soon.

In this layer, I organize the chopping boards and the pan lids or covers. I used an old dish organizer.

And this our overhead cabinet. This is where I put those glasswares gifted on our wedding 12 years ago. See the different glasses on the top left most? I just can't give them away, haha. Also, this is where I put out lunch jars and boxes, and our excess plates and bowls for visitors.

Below the cabinet, you can see the pans hanging.

So that's how I organize our kitchen. It may not be as modern as those you see in cooking show but it's clean and organize. And we cook great meals too. Check our Home Cooked Meals blog.

DIY Disinfectant Solution to Fight Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

Because of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, there's a run-out of alcohol and hand sanitizer in the market. Although, hand washing is still the best recommendation in helping to stop the spread of coronavirus disease, alcohol and sanitizer are handy first aid that we can bring anywhere we go.

But don't worry because there are lots of alternatives that we can make and use as effective as alcohol.

Here's a DIY Disinfectation Solution:

For disinfecting areas: *mix 9 glasses of clean water + 1 glass of Zonrox (Clorox).

If there is no liquid Zonrox (Clorox): mix 1 tablespoon of chlorine powder + 2 liters water

For disinfecting your hands: get 1 glass from the above mixture* then add 9 glasses of water

If there is no liquid Zonrox (Clorox): 1 tablespoon of chlorine powder + 20 liters water

(Source of formulation: DOH-RITM)

For easy sharing I made this:

DIY, Disinfectant Solution, Coronavirus disease, COVID-19

Remember, do not hoard because you are taking other's chance to buy for their own protection. When that happen, you are not helping to stop the spread of coronavirus disease. Not only for alcohol, but also for food supply. The Government assured that there will be enough stock for everyone. So please stop hoarding!

Stay safe everyone!

Exploring the World of Vinyl Cutting

arts, crafts, DIY, vinyl cutting,

The field of the internet has lots of different content from cat videos, memes, markets and even business websites. However, one of the main topics that people always engage on (aside from debates on politics and religion) are DIY projects. Do it yourself projects are very common nowadays especially with the rise of video sharing. Sites like YouTube and Facebook cultivated this trend even further with pages and channels dedicated to teaching people how to do anything. From recipes to simple hand crafts, there is a ton of virtual information that you can take from these. Some even teach them step by step for beginners. Learn more about this trend by clicking here

One of the main trends we have today is the printing field. There is a lot of projects you can do with a simple printer like pictures and documents. There are also sophisticated printers like the 3D ones which can print from your toys to mechanically functional limbs. It can even be turned into a business like printing stickers, banners and tarps. One of the main products used for this is vinyl.

The “vinyl” that we are talking about here does not refer to the discs that create sounds. However, they do come from the same material called PVC, or polyvinyl chloride. This is the third most produced synthetic material in the world as it can be used in a lot of ways. There are two types of PVC: rigid and flexible. The rigid ones can usually be found on construction materials like pipes, window frames and doors. Flexible PVC is combined with other materials to form smaller objects like signages and music vinyl. On the other hand, there is also self-adhesive vinyl. These things are the kings of sticker paper as these can stick to virtually any place. It is primarily used in advertising materials like banners and posts. It can be shaped in many forms and can be designed to your heart’s content. However, you will need a special tool called a vinyl cutter.

There are many vinyl cutters out in the market today, each of them having their own advantages. Most of these vinyl cutters have computers attached to them or programs that you can install in your own computer. These tools can help you in designing your vinyl. You can use these on surfaces that usually cannot be posted on like cars and gadgets. You can also use vinyl to “print” on shirts and other apparel. Even though it acts like a printer, it does not have any ink. You need to use a colored vinyl first as it is only mounted with a small blade. This cuts across the surface of vinyl to create shapes. It can also be used on other thin materials like specialty papers. If you are looking for a vinyl cutter, check them out online and visit sites like https://cuttingmachinereviews.com/ to get more information.

There are three things you need to know before purchasing a vinyl cutter:

arts, crafts, DIY, vinyl cutting,

1. Purpose

You need to determine first why you will use the product. If you are going to start a business, it is important to acquire an industrial vinyl cutter. There are also mini ones which can be used for small projects and simple sticker papers. Usually, vinyl cutters vary in width and it depends on your acquired vinyl as well. They are usually sold in sheets or in rolls. You can also customize the program that you will use for design.  Adobe and Corel are very popular amongst graphic designers.

2. Material

As these cutters are typically used only for vinyl, it is important to know the product you are buying. You can ask and check for its capabilities to make sure that it is what you are looking for. There are even vinyl cutters which can cut through thin magnets. Learning these advantages can help you determine which cutter you will buy.

3. Cost

Lastly, it is best to check your own budget for a cutter. Prices are getting competitive so it will be your advantage to check other sellers for comparison. Know which brand or model will give you your money’s worth and it can help you in your various projects.

9 Ways to Customize your Home Without Breaking the Bank

Your home is one of the biggest investments that you will make in your life. Its value, décor, and style is obviously important to you as it is also your sanctuary and place of comfort. Often, we get bored with the original designs of our home, and we wish for something new. Renovating your home can become an exciting project that will add value to your investment, while also providing you with an extra incentive to put in overtime hours at work. In this article, you will learn nine ways to customize your home, without breaking the bank.

home, home and living, home beautification, home improvement, DIY,

1. Paint your door- this is a great way to add style and class to your home. Your front door is the gateway to your castle, so make it something that establishes your uniqueness in the neighborhood. Very often, we see the traditional brown or white doors. Why not try red, blue or yellow for additional flair?

2. Change your Kitchen Cabinets- your cabinets are a big selling point when purchasing a home. Install customized cabinets that will match the new theme and energy. While you’re at it, make sure to contrast your new cabinets with a complementary backsplash.

3. Change up the light fixtures- your lights are a great way to add a unique touch to your house. Go to your local home improvement show, and take a look at how you can add different lighting features in your home. The brighter, the better!

4. Add Shutters to your windows- try contrasting the shutters on your windows to match your bright new door. Shutters are a great way to add an additional welcoming feel to your home.

5. Paint the Walls- with a few well-placed walls of paint, the inside of your home can transform into something wonderful. Rather than paint all four walls the same color, try painting only one! The unique color will create contrast within your house.

6. Add a rug area- purchase an extravagant rug for your living room to add a touch of flair, but make sure that it matches the décor of your home.

7. Match your Furniture- once you have your new rug, try to buy at least one piece of furniture that stands out from the rest. Place it near your window or fireplace for added effect.

8. Hang Artwork- nothing screams “personalized home” more than a unique piece of artwork. Hang it over your fireplace or place it in the entryway, so it’s the first thing you notice once you walk through your brand-new door.

9. Decorate your Stairs – this is a wonderful tip that is rarely used: try painting your staircase with contrasting colors on alternating steps. Doing so is sure to add a unique style to your home.

Bonus Tip: Customizing your garage can also add tons of style and value to your home. Installing some basic cabinets, painting the floor, and adding some rugs are quick and easy jobs.

Your residence is meant to match your style and personality. Use these nine tips to make your home stand out from the crowd. These creative strategies will go a long way to relieve stress, while also contributing to the increased value of your greatest investment.

There you go. Any suggestions, would love to hear from you too.

Weekend Home DIYs

It has been a long time since I made a post on this site.

Since it's only me and Mommy Maye at home, we spent our weekends by making ourselves busy. My plan was to sit back and watch a complete season of Daredevil but I made worthier tasks.

While, Mommy was doing the cleaning and house chores, I made some do it yourself (DIY) crafts out of wood scraps.

First is this knife organizer.

knife, organizer
Knife Organizer
I made this by joining together two pieces of wood blocks of about ½ inch thick. Smoothen the surface with sand paper then polish with plastic varnish.

I also made this simple cellphone or tablet holder.

cellphone, tablet stand
Wooden cellphone and tablet stand
A slit of about 1 cm wide and 1 cm deep is made into the surface of a wooden block. The surface is then polished with sand paper followed by plastic varnish.

This is perfect for watching movies on your tablet or phone.

Also, I made wooden board shelves for Matthew’s stuff. However, I haven't fix it on the wall so I will share it next time.

Actually, home improvement and maintenance is a never ending task. We have still loads of home improvements to do like a new room for Matthew and spring cleaning of our master's bedroom. By the way, let me share some helpful cleaning hacks I found at Invitation Homes.

Hopefully, we'll accomplish our home improvement plans as much as what we had done last year.

What made your weekend busy?
