The Enhanced Community Quarantine

During the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to COVID-19, most of us are requested to stay at home to reduce the transmission of the virus. But for us, we still need to report to our office since we are working in a food manufacturing industry.

In the first week of the ECQ, we need to pass through checkpoints in each barangay. Last week though, check points where lessen and located between boundaries of municipalities. However, we are still nervous because checkpoints are already powered by National Police wearing their best tactical gear like the one below.

It is much easier as there are no more questioning as along as you have your IDs with you.

But what is Enhanced Community Quarantine?

When COVID-19 cases started to increase, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire country under the state of public health emergency on March 8, 2020.  After this announcement, there are some suggestions or recommendations to lockdown the entire Metro Manila by stopping the operation of mass trasportation and cancelling of classes.

This was implemented on March 15 to April 14 by placing the metro under community quarantine. Some means of trasnportation, land, domestic sea, and domestic air, are suspended but with exemptions. Everyone going in and out of Metro Manila needs to provide documents to checkpoints in order them to be allowed to pass.

However, on the second day of the community quarantine, President Duterte declared the "Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ)" placing the entire island of Luzon which goals to stop the continuous spread of COVID-19. The EQC took effect on March 17 and will end on April 12, 2020.

During the ECQ, all means of public transport are cancelled to limit the movement of people. Most individuals are recommended to stay at home. Furthermore, mass gatherings are also prohibited.

We are nearing the end of the Enhance Community Quarantine but some are still recommending to continue the implementation until the end of April 2020.

With this, we hope that the cases COVID-19 will be reduced and eventually brings back the nation to the normal situation.

Stay Safe.
