Weekend Home DIYs

It has been a long time since I made a post on this site.

Since it's only me and Mommy Maye at home, we spent our weekends by making ourselves busy. My plan was to sit back and watch a complete season of Daredevil but I made worthier tasks.

While, Mommy was doing the cleaning and house chores, I made some do it yourself (DIY) crafts out of wood scraps.

First is this knife organizer.

I made this by joining together two pieces of wood blocks of about ½ inch thick. Smoothen the surface with sand paper then polish with plastic varnish.

I also made this simple cellphone or tablet holder.

A slit of about 1 cm wide and 1 cm deep is made into the surface of a wooden block. The surface is then polished with sand paper followed by plastic varnish.

This is perfect for watching movies on your tablet or phone.

Also, I made wooden board shelves for Matthew’s stuff. However, I haven't fix it on the wall so I will share it next time.

Actually, home improvement and maintenance is a never ending task. We have still loads of home improvements to do like a new room for Matthew and spring cleaning of our master's bedroom. By the way, let me share some helpful cleaning hacks I found at Invitation Homes.

Hopefully, we'll accomplish our home improvement plans as much as what we had done last year.

What made your weekend busy?

Pregnant Jill Duggar Travels To Central America

Fans of TLC's “Counting On” are slamming Jill Duggar (Dillard) after traveling with her husband and 22 month old son to Central America to do missionary work there. Jill revealed on her blog that although the family has only been in Central America for a little over a week, there are already many different health scares that have plagued them.

“The first few days we were here, amidst the settling in and busy schedules, Israel (the Duggar/Dillard's 22 month old son) and I were battling colds and coughs and Israel developed a low grade fever, which we quickly noticed was a result of an eye infection.” However, fans didn't think it was a very good idea that Jill and Derrick were traveling to Central America at all, seeing that Jill is pregnant with the couple's second child.

The family is doing mission work in El Salvador, which is a country that has been hit hard by the Zika virus. The country recommends that women who live there wait until 2018 to get pregnant due to the Zika virus. Fans of the show have been sounding off, saying that it was not safe for Jill and Derrick to travel to the country, and that Jill is putting not only her own health at risk, but the health of her whole family as well.

Matthew the #hugot Singer

If you are a follower on our Instagram account, you may have watched this #hugot song of Matthew.

I called it #hugot song because Daddy and I will sing it every time we'll hear someone who's being emotional. In other words, humuhugot.

When you hear it's lyric "kung wala ka ng maintindihan, kung wala ka ng makapitan... kumapit ka sa akin, hindi kita bibitawan...", it's as if you are saving a person right? So when we know someone who's getting too much emotional, we remind him or her of the song. Which will make him/her laugh so we'll save him/her from crying, haha.

So that's why we call it #hugot song. But seriously, my son loves to sing. He loves singing those teleserye theme songs and even commercial jingles like this one.

He can be a singer or a total performer someday right? As early as now, we give him our full support for his love of music. Daddy bought him a piano while I am planning to buy him a guitar birthday gift. I have yet to find guitar store just like the music stores dayton ohio. But hopefully before his birthday comes, I already bought one.

Does your kids love to sing too?

Century Tuna Burger Patties

I must admit, Daddy used to cook better than me. Pero dati yun dahil mommy maye cooks na, haha. Sinisipag lang naman and also since I want to prepare school baon for my son, I made burger patties using Century Tuna.

Making Century Tuna burger patties is just quick and easy. Here are what you need:

1 can Century Tuna Flakes in Oil
1 piece egg
3 spoon floor

1/2 cup bread crumbs (approximate only)
1 piece carrot (grated)

1 stalk celery (finely chopped)
1 small onion (finely chopped)
pepper and salt

How to cook:

1. Separate the oil from the tuna flakes and mashed.
2. Beat the egg and mix well with the rest of the ingredients. Chill for one hour.
3. Then make your burger patties and fry.

Fry at low heat lang because tuna burger patties is easy to cook lang. By the way I used our JML Stone-ware Platinum Pan so I can only use less oil. Parang pan grilled lang.

4. When the patties are brown na, you can put it over paper towel to sop up excess oil.

That's it. Arrange it in a burger bun with sliced cheese and a little mayonnaise. You'll have this yummy tuna burger na. You can add slices of cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce too.

Actually, you can also turn this to tuna nuggets. Add grated cheese lang and for sure your kids will love it.

O sha, I'll share more easy recipe pa next time. Lalo na sinisipag akong magluto, haha.
