Kutsinta

Kutsinta
I was supposed to make this on Mommy’s birthday as requested. However, I got hard time to look for one of the ingredients – Lye. Finally, last week I found it in public market and made it last Saturday.

You will need:
1 ½ cup rice flour
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
3 cups water
1 ½ tsp lye water
2 tsp annatto powder
Grated coconut

Here’s how to do it:
Just mix the ingredients (except for the grated coconut) until no more lumps is present. Pass the mixture into a fine strainer. Grease the mold with margarine or cooking oil before filling it. Steam for about 10-20 minutes. Let it cool for about 5 minutes and remove from the mold. Serve with grated coconut.
Mixture after straining
Ready for steaming
Tip/s: Try to steam a couple of cups first so you can see if it is sticky or not and you can adjust by adding a bit more of flour or rice flour.
