Tokwa and Beans

This is another BC Blogger-inspired dishes. Thanks to Sanna of Woman Scribbles for sharing her recipe. One variation I did is reducing the spicyness and used achuete or annatto powder.

You will need:
6 pieces tokwa (you can buy this at 20 pesos for six pieces)
¼ kilo Baguio beans, blanched
1 medium size onion, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
15 ml oyster sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in ½ cup water
1 tsp annatto (achuete) powder
1 tbsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste

Here what to do:
Fry tokwa until all sides are golden brown. Set aside.

In a separate wok or pan, sauté garlic and onion. Add annatto and paprika powder and continue sautéing until the two powders are dissolved. Add about 1 ½ cup water and let it simmer. Add oyster sauce and simmer for another minute and drop in tokwa and beans. Add cornstarch mixture and simmer until sauce thickens.
